Abstract

The recent book by anthropologist Piero Leirner is dedicated to analyzing the phenomenon of hybrid wars, having as its principle the denaturalization of the idea of the State as a machine for domesticating war. In the book, the author demonstrates how battles invade the field of politics, not because they are an anomaly of politics, but because they are umbilically linked. From this, the ethnologist, a pioneer in field studies among the military, investigates how the participation of the Armed Forces behind the scenes in Brazilian politics would be the cause and not the consequence of the aforementioned political “polarization” of the present.
